ADDITIONAL SPECIAL AWARDS ANNOUNCED FOR
BRONSON SPEEDWAY KICKOFF TO SPEEDWEEKS 50

The momentum continues to build for the Bronson Speedway Kickoff To Speedweeks 50 Powered By Sunoco Race Fuels which is set for the Tour Type Modifieds Saturday February 18th. Promoter Ann Young announced two additional special award sponsors have signed on for the race bringing the bonus money total to $1,040.

Bill Mitchell a longtime close friend of the Young family disclosed he will post a $490 bonus to the driver leading the 49th lap of the feature event that is set to pay a minimum of $2,000 to win. For many years Bill built the engines utilized by the late Chris Young as well working with the 33-time Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Modified winner in the role as crew chief.

Joe Larsen of the 5 Off 5 On radio program at Inravio.com has stepped up to offer a $100 Rookie of the Race bonus for 50-lapper for the Tour Type Modifieds. You can catch 5 Off 5 On on Monday evening from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. Larsen has a vast background in racing having started off as Figure Eight driver on Long Island before moving on to serve a chief steward at Riverhead Raceway as well an official on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

Aside from Mitchell and Larsen other special award sponsors that will take part in the Kickoff To Speedweeks 50 Powered By Sunoco Race Fuels include Bronson Lube Inc. as they put up a $100 bonus for the driver setting fast time in qualifying. Two special awards for crew chiefs have also been posted with Myracenews.com kicking $100 for the crew chief of the driver that sets fast time while Lou & Tracey Maestri are offering $150 to the winning crew chief of the race. The Maestri bonus will be awarded in the name of their long time crew chief and friend Joe DiGangi who worked with Lou's Super Pro Truck team at Riverhead Raceway.

Ace's Landscaping of Islip, L.I. has posted a $100 Hard Charger of the Race award this in addition to already serving a a sponsor of the race purse. Ace's Landscaping is owned by former Islip Speedway Figure Eight standout "Racin" Bobby Mason.

Charlie Pennington of Long Island Performance, a Sunoco Race Fuel distributor announced he will be offering a $100 Hard Luck Driver of the Race bonus for the 50-lapper.

Not figured in to the $1,040 special awards posted for the Tour Type Modified portion of the February 18th spectacular at Bronson Speedway is the $200 Gift Certificate that will be distributed to all teams on hand. That bonus is offered by Northeast Race Cars & Parts, a Troyer Engineering authorized distributor and repair facility in Rhode Island.

Meanwhile Ann Young disclosed over Super Bowl weekend the GoFundMe page she started for lap sponsors at $20 per lap has reached her goal of selling two complete sets of laps for the race adding a handsome $2,500 to the race purse!

The Tour Type Modified winner will also be presented a set of Hoosier Racing Tires, 10 gallons of Sunoco Race Fuel as well the 5th starting berth in the Richie Evans Memorial 100 on Friday February 24th at the New Smyrna Speedway.

Ryan Preece of Berlin, Ct. will be on hand to defend his 2016 race win in the TS Haulers Chevy of car owners Eddie & Connie Partridge. Jeremy Gerstner of Wesley, Fl. who was runner-up to Preece last year told race officials he'll be on hand and as he said "to get the race win instead of runner-up in front of my Florida crowd". Jeremy also noted he and his Q Auto & Injury Attorneys/GMR Lawrence team are currently preparing a second Troyer machine for L.J. Grimm of Seffner, Fl. to compete in. Bronson Lube Inc. would be on board with Grimm if the second car is ready in time for the race.

Long Island driving talent and former Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Modified champion JR Bertuccio of Centereach, L.I. will be back to improve on his 5th place finish from 2016 and be joined by fellow "Islander" Christopher Young of Calverton, L.I. Bertuccio will steer the Gershow Motorsports Chevy owned by his father Joseph while Young will field the Bill Mitchell Hardcore Racing entry that his late father won many a race in.

Supplying their own door handle to door handle racing excitement Saturday evening with be the talented Pro Trucks, Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association, Pure Stocks, Strictly Stocks and Pro Challenge classes of Bronson Speedway. With the success of the GoFundMe effort put forth by Young she announced Tuesday morning a minimum of $500 will be added to the prize money for the regular Bronson divisions. That figure will increase as Ann also disclosed she is continuing the GoFundMe effort with all additional monies raised going to the local racers of Bronson.

A Friday afternoon February 17th test and tune will allow all race teams to get ready for the Saturday night races with a $10 pit fee in effect. Pit gates will open at 12 noon for the Test & Tune session with cars hitting the high banks of Bronson at 2:00 pm A $50 entry fee for the Tour Type Modifieds will be applied on race day with pit passes just $25 per team member.
