MAHONING VALLEY SPEEDWAY ‘OCTOBERFAST’ 150 NEXT UP FOR FERRIS MOWERS RACE OF CHAMPIONS ASPHALT MODIFIED SERIES FUELED BY SUNOCO
Emerling and Hossfeld Lead Championship Battle to the Exciting Quarter-Mile

The Ferris Mowers Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series fueled by Sunoco heads to the quarter-mile confines of the Mahoning Valley Speedway in Lehighton, Pa., for the Octoberfast 150 this coming Saturday (October 22). The 150-lap event is sure to be exciting with much on the line for the Series in regard to the championship, but also $5,000-to-the-winner.

Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y., and Chuck Hossfeld or Ransomville, N.Y., will lead the Race of Champions stars to the track to do battle with Mahoning Valley Speedway weekly racers like Eric Beers of Northampton, Pa., Earl Paules of Palmerton, Pa., as well as veteran racers like Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pa., who frequents both Mahoning and the Race of Champions Series. Beers scored the win in the Race of Champions series opener at Mahoning this past April.

“It’s going to be very competitive,” offered Beers, who is the 2016 Mahoning Valley Speedway track champion. “There is a good purse on the line as well as those guys racing for a championship. In 150 laps at Mahoning, pretty much anything can happen and usually does. It’s going to be exciting and something that race fans are not going to want to miss.”

Emeriling and Hossfeld have dueled all season with Emerling winning an amazing eight races thus far. Hossfeld has set the benchmark with “fast times” during the group time trial format dating back to Emerling setting fast time at Mahoning in April. It has developed into a heated yet respectful rivalry that will play out in the next two races starting with Octoberfast at Mahoning.

“My guys have done an awesome job and have worked their tails off all year,” offered Hossfeld. “Mahoning will be no different. It’s a unique track that presents some different challenges, but we will be up to the task when the time comes and we are looking forward to it. Hopefully, we catch a few good breaks and things go our way.”

The green-white-checker group qualifying sessions begin at 4:00pm at Mahoning with racing to follow in fast-paced fun-filled afternoon. For more information visit www.mahoningvalley-speedway.com or call 570-386-4900 or visit www.rocmodifiedseries.com.
