FERRIS MOWERS RACE OF CHAMPIONS ASPHALT MODIFIED SERIES
PREPARED TO TAKE ON CHEMUNG SPEEDROME
Traditional Sunday, May 1 Race Date at Chemung brings out the best in Series

When competitors in the Ferris Mowers Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series Fueled by Sunoco head to the Chemung Speedrome they have to tackle the challenge of uniquely shaped track that presents great racing opportunities. The event also signifies the first asphalt event in the Southern Tier of New York curing racers and race fans of “Cabin Fever”.

“Everyone is ready to go and now the way the Spring has played out to this point we haven’t had many opportunities to get out and race,” stated Orchard Park’s Patrick Emerling. “It will be great to get to Chemung and give it our all. The track presents us with some setup and driving challenges, but I think we can be competitive when it counts.”

The Series last visited Chemung for the Race of Champions last October in an event where Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pennsylvania prevailed, which also vaulted him to the 2015 Series Championship. Hirschman has a knack for always being in the hunt at Chemung.

“It’s a challenging track which presents opportunities for passing and you have to hit your marks,” offered Hirschman. “I think the fans will see the usual great racing that the Series always brings to Chemung. It will definitely be exciting.”

Bryan Sherwood of Binghamton, N.Y., is ready to compete at Chemung in the 75-lap event on Sunday.

“We had a decent day at Mahoning and we’re definitely looking forward to Chemung on Sunday,” stated Sherwood, who has followed the Series for several years. “Right now, that would be our home track and we’re looking forward to building off our race at Mahoning. Our friends and family come out to watch us race when we are close to home and we’re looking forward to rewarding them with a good run.”

The gates open at Chemung for fans on Sunday, May 1 at 12:00 pm (noon) with practice to follow at 1:00 pm, followed by the qualifying races starting 2:15 pm. Questions may be answered at the Chemung Speedrome Summer number: (607) 529-9998.
