VALENTI
MODIFIED RACING SERIES
HEADS TO OXFORD 250 WEEKEND |
The
Valenti Modified Racing Series heads to the State of
Maine this weekend for the second of three
appearances this season. The series is part of the
43rd annual Hood sponsored Oxford 250 weekend.
Saturday’s race is a 100-lap event.
The VMRS competed at Oxford Plains in June and is
scheduled at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, in
Scarborough, September 17.
Jon McKennedy, of E. Chelmsford, MA, continues on a
path to become the all-time series champion.
McKennedy entered the season tied with Kirk
Alexander with three titles each. Five wins to date
and a substantial point-lead make McKennedy a
contender to re-write series history. McKennedy
visited victory lane at Oxford in June.
Reigning champion Woody Pitkat, of Sturbridge, MA,
will make the trek to Oxford as will two-time series
champion Chris Pasteryak, of Jewett City, CT.
Pasteryak was the winner of the 250-weekend race
last season. He also has two wins this season.
Mike Willis Jr, of Grantham, NH, Rob Richardi, of
Easton MA, George Sherman, of Framingham, MA, Donnie
Lashua, of Canaan, NH, Dave Schneider, of Northport,
NY, and Rookie of the Year candidate Colbey
Fournier, of Berkley, MA, are expected entries.
Sherman had his best ever series finish (runner-up)
at Oxford in June and Lashua his best last weekend
at Monadnock Speedway.
Local drivers, Bruce Haley, Bill Dixon, and Josh
Cantara will represent Maine making their first
starts of the season.
The VMRS will by joined by the American -Canadian
Tour on Saturday with heat races starting at 5:00
