VALENTI MODIFIED RACING SERIES
BEECH RIDGE BOUND SATURDAY

After a week off because of last Friday’s cancelled event at Devils Bowl Speedway in Vermont,, the Valenti Modified Racing Series heads to Maine Saturday night, August 1, to the famed Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, in Scarborough.

The series will be competing in twin 50- lap features for only the second time. The format change was tried earlier at New Hampshire’s Lee USA Speedway and was well received by fans, track management, and competitors.

Series founder Jack Bateman made the announcement earlier this month after receiving suggestions the same concept might be effective at Beech Ridge.

“After Lee I called track manager Bill Callen and asked him what he thought of the Lee race. He thought it was great,” said Bateman. “When I contacted Andy Cusack at Beech Ridge he was all for it.”

Bateman stressed the payoff and points awarded for the event will be from the final finish.

Woody Pitkat, of Stafford Springs, CT, takes a 34-point lead over Todd Patnode, of Richmond, NH, into “The Ridge.” Richard Savary, of Canton, MA, Todd Szegedy, of Ridgefield, CT, and Chris Pasteryak, of Jewett City, CT,

The Beech Ridge appearance always brings a local touch, as three drivers with Beech Ridge experience will enter Saturday’s race.

Tony Ricci, of Westbrook, ME, garnered series wins in 2006 at Lee and Star Speedways. Minot, ME, veteran Bruce Haley, and former Star Speedway champion, Josh Cantara, of Alfred, ME, will debut this weekend.

Kirk Alexander, Jon McKennedy, and Mike Holdridge, all former Ridge winners, are planning to compete.

Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, PA, returns to the Gary Casella #25.

Post time is 7:00 PM. Additional information at www.beechridge.com.
