The
Valenti Modified Racing Series returns to action
Friday night, May 22, for the first of three
appearances at Stafford Springs Motor Speedway,
Stafford, Connecticut.
The ‘VMRS 80’ will be the second race of the young
season for the New England based series. Todd
Szegedy, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, won the first
race, May 2, at Monadnock Speedway in New Hampshire.
Szegedy, the winner of last years (VMRS) spring race
at Stafford leads the list of entries. He’ll drive a
car owned by Kevin Stuart, of Lowell, Massachusetts.
Additionally, the father-son combo of Charlie and
Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, Connecticut, have
entered Friday’s event. Chris, a two-time series
champion, has recorded a win at Stafford.
Hometown driver Woody Pitkat, of Stafford, and Ryan
Preece, of Berlin, Connecticut, are expected to
compete. Former Stafford VMRS winners Ted
Christopher, of Plainville, and Keith Rocco, of
Wallingford, are expected.
Former series champion, Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon
Valley, PA, and all-time series winner, Kirk
Alexander, of Swanzey, NH, are headed to Stafford
Springs on Friday.
Veteran driver’s Richard Savary, of Canton, MA,
Norman Wrenn, of Nashua, NH, and Dan Meservey, Jr,
of Brewster, MA, will also compete.
Dennis Perry, of Pawcatuck, RI, and Rookie of the
Year, Mike Willis Jr., of Grantham, NH. are also
heading to Stafford.
VMRS qualifying starts at 6:15 PM Friday.
