One of the great parts of our ministry is meeting people along the roads we
travel. God goes before us, preparing the way and we follow as He leads. Has
God been leading you down the road? Greetings on the name of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ.
From time to time I receive reports from our crew out on the highways and
byways of the racing world and I wanted to share with you how God is working
in the racing community.
From Tara Stoehr, our Chaplain with the North Eastern Midget Association.
Good morning! Friday we were at Chemung Speedrome - it was a very
rough track for the NEMA midgets. God gave me a message on the ride up but
being on crutches prevented me from making it to the drivers meeting before
they were done. However as I read the message again Saturday morning, on our
way to Evans Mills speedway -which I feel the owner and workers are the
nicest most genuine people we have come in contact with, our family made a
lot of friendships there- I realized why God saved the message for Saturday!
(I shared this with the drivers before the message-"that was last night,
it's a new day!" Got some chuckles)
I'm so grateful that God loves us unconditionally. As a parent loves
their child no matter what, so does our father in heaven love us even more!
He gives us a fresh start every day. He wipes away our mistakes from the day
before and we get to start all over again, the minute we wake up and put our
feet on the floor. We should receive His gift of grace and try again, which
helps me to understand why we can't earn our way to heaven. It's not about
how good we are because if it were, none of us would make it. It's not about
what we do, or what we did, it's about what Jesus did for us. He took all
our sin that we will ever commit that day on the cross. God knew we would
need a savior. He shed his blood for you and for me even though we don't
deserve it. So, how will you embrace his free gift? How will you embrace
this fresh start? A new day, a new season.
Ephesians 2:8-9;
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for
this; it is a gift from God.
Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us
can boast about it.
As a result of Tara’s visit to Evans Mills we have
a new worker on the field. Pastor Robert Sly has expressed interest in
joining RWJM. God is at work!
Here is a word from T.B. Smith, our Chaplain at Bubba Speedway Park in
Ocala, FL.
Last week we had the privilege of celebrating with an old time driver,
owner, sponsor, at Bubba's Speedway Park. His wonderful supportive wife,
Geraldine, was headed home to her Lord. (Woody) Woodrow was in need of some
comfort and grace. Although the Memorial service was on Wednesday both Woody
and his son Edward, who is a driver of a Woodrow owned car, were at the
track on Friday. The support Woody got was a genuine blessing to his soul.
Nothing could have pleased him more than that we remembered he and his
family in prayer in the Invocation. It seems to me that this is one of the
reasons we are with the racing industry. Get this, even Bubba was very,
very, complimentary of our remembering Woody and his family. Keep praying
for Bubba he is coming around more all the time; Joe Dirt, Lisa, Scott, and
other believers are just thrilled at the changes there. We will win Him to
Christ yet. Keep the good work up. Remember us is prayer as we contact the
Monster Truck organization about being their chaplain next weekend here at
Bubba's.
Ephesians 2:10;
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus,
so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
And a word from Bobby and Vinetta Somers who serve
at USA Lee Speedway.
The first of the Tri Track Open Modified Race Series is in the
books at Lee USA Speedway. It was a great turnout of 38 Modifieds with great
heats and “B” Main. It was Todd Patnode taking the checkers in the “B” main.
He neglected to take the purse and moved over to the Main Feature of 100
laps. With few cars holding up the field mid pack in the Main possibly
frustrated many drivers. It seemed to upset those who were trying to plan
their own strategy. We had to endure several laps of nonsense racing.
The strategy of one driver paid off was the #5CT of Chris Pasteryak got
comfortable in the field hanging back around 6th place. When there was 10 to
go Chris made his move and by that time the tiers of the #13 Masse and #42
Pitkat were gone. They had nothing for Pasteryak. Pasteryak taking the first
win in the Tri Track Open.
The Street Stock Touring Series made their first start of the season at
Lee USA Speedway. With a great turnout of street stocks and many more still
not ready to pound the pavement this should be a great division to watch
around New England this season.
It was great to be back with the Modified Family on a very warm Sunday.
The next Tri Track event is in June at “Maddog”, Monadnock Speedway. We have
the next two weeks off then Vinetta and I head back to Lee USA Speedway for
their 2015 season opener.
This will be the 6th season for Vinetta and I as the Track Chaplains.
They are planning a very special evening in June when we honor a great
friend and Track Official Jay Merryfield. It was two years ago Jay went home
to the Lord. He is greatly missed by family and those at Lee USA. I can
still recall many Fridays where we both chatted with Jay. Jay was one of the
push truck drivers at Lee. Every Friday night as we entered down into the
infield Jay would be circling the track in his Suburban. As he passed
Vinetta and I, he would yell out the window as he passed us “Have a minute”.
He would circle the track few more times then finally come into the infield
and we would chat. As I walked under the bridge every Friday night towards
the track I still hear and see Jay traveling around the track and hear his
words “Have a minute”. It’s racing family moments like these that we
realized how blessed we have been to spend time with the many throughout New
England Race Tracks.
Thanks to all our dedicated servants throughout the USA. They sacrifice
their time to serve those in the racing community. When we head out on the
road we go with the anticipation of what God has planned for us. It is then
when God surprises us and reveals a special connection that He has prepared
for us. Please continue to support our efforts in your prayers. Your
financial partnership will be put to good use and we will share the results
with you.
