KEITH ROCCO
RETURNS TO WHEEL OF "OLE BLUE" #3 CAR
FOR CALL BEFORE YOU DIG 811 150 AT STAFFORD SPEEDWAY |
When
the green flag comes out for the NASCAR Whelen
Modified Tour Call Before You Dig 811 150 this
Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway, there will be a
driver/team reunion taking place as Berlin native
Keith Rocco will be behind the wheel of the Boehler
Family owned #3 “Ole Blue” machine.
Rocco previously drove 7 races during the 2012 NWMT
season for the #3 team. Although an injury caused
him to miss 6 NWMT races that season, his
performance was good enough to earn him Sunoco
Rookie of the Year honors. During his 7-race stretch
behind the wheel of the #3 car, Rocco accumulated 5
top-10 finishes, including a career best finish of
third in the 200-lap NAPA Spring Sizzler at Stafford
as well as a second top-10 effort in the May TSI
Harley-Davidson 125. Rocco is returning to the #3
car for a one-off opportunity and he is looking to
rekindle his Stafford success in the Call Before You
Dig 811 150.
“This is a one-off race and I enjoy working with the
Boehler team,” said Rocco. “I get along great with
Greg [Fournier], who works on the Boehler team and
has taken on crew chief duties. He also helps me out
when the 3 team is not racing. We work together all
the time so this Friday should be pretty smooth. I
think we can be right up front with the 3 car.”
Just as Rocco will be looking to put the 3 car up
front in the Call Before You Dig 811 150, he will
also be looking to get back up front behind the
wheel of the #88 Wheeler’s Auto SK Modified® car.
Since making his SK Modified® debut at Stafford in
2005, Rocco has accumulated 37 feature wins, which
places him in third place on the All-Time SK
Modified® Feature Winners List. Rocco trails only
Ted Christopher and Bo Gunning in career SK
Modified® victories, but the 2014 season has seen
Rocco go winless thus far. Rocco’s last SK Modified®
win was in the 2013 Fall Final and he hopes to end
that winless streak as he and the #88 team have come
very close to NAPA Victory Lane this season.
“Every week we’re getting closer and closer,” said
Rocco. “The competition level at Stafford is so
fierce that it seems like you’re not going to win
unless you’re 100% spot on. We’re just missing that
little bit right now. I feel any week here we’re
going to win one and once we get that first win
hopefully we can make it like days of old.”
