LIAS TIRE & AMERICAN RACER STEP UP WITH BONUS FOR
TOMMY DRUAR/TONY JANKOWIAK MEMORIAL 125 |
Short
Track Management (STM) has secured another contingency award for the
Tommy Druar/Tony Jankowiak Memorial Modified 125, during the US Open
at Lancaster Speedway on Sunday, September 21.
Lias Tire of Indiana, PA has donated six new American Racer tires to
be awarded during the Race of Champions Modified Tour 125-lap
feature. Five of the tires will be given away to five lucky drivers
running in a selected position on a predetermined lap of the race
with the sixth awarded to the last car running on the lead lap when
the checkered flag waves.
The first lap that a driver can win a tire will be on lap 22, which
was chosen in memory of Bill Colton, Jr. Colton was a long-time
supporter of Lancaster Speedway and a car owner that ran a #22 car
with several drivers, including current RoC Tour points leader Chuck
Hossfeld.
Two more tires will be given away on laps 52 and 68 in honor of
former track owners, Stan and Alex Friesen. Alex Friesen bought
Lancaster Speedway in 1989 and staged the inaugural US Open in his
first season at the helm. He was killed in a tragic accident in
1996.
Stan Friesen, Alex’s father, took over operation of the speedway
following his son’s sudden passing. The elder Friesen, along with
sons Jamie and Joel , operated the speedway until 2000. He also
owned and operated the Ransomville Speedway until his death in 2012.
The final two tires will be awarded on laps 100 and 125.
