The
12th Annual John Blewett III North-South Shootout at
Caraway Speedway in Sophia, North Carolina has been
postponed to Sunday, November 2 due to the threat
inclement weather Saturday.
All action originally scheduled for Saturday
afternoon will be run on Sunday beginning with the
125-lap Tour Type Modified feature at 1:30pm ET.
Friday evening saw qualifying take place for the
Modified feature, and it was five-time North-South
Shootout winner Matt Hirschman who won the pole with
a lap time of 15.699 seconds. 2013 NASCAR Whelen
Modified Tour champion, Ryan Preece, will share the
front row with Hirschman. Preece's lap was a time of
15.762 seconds. Spencer Davis, Tommy Barrett Jr. and
Ron Silk rounded out the top five qualifiers.
The Pro All-Star Series South Super Late Models also
qualified on Friday evening with Christopher Bell
winning the pole for Sunday's 150-lap feature in his
Kyle Busch Motorsports car. Bell's lap of 16.389
seconds beat out Ryan Moore, who qualified second.
Jody Measamer, Brandon Ward and Cole Timm completed
the top five qualifiers.
The PASS pole wasn't the only thing Bell won on
Friday night as he also scored the win in the 35-lap
feature for the USAC Midgets. The native Oklahoman
started seventh and quickly made his way to the
front of the field. He inherited the lead after a
restart on lap 18.
"I just have to give a big thanks to the guys," said
Bell. "Every race they give me a good race car. Now
I just need to get the other (win)."
