BARRETT
TARGETS A THREE-PEAT AT LEE SUNDAY
AS POINTS BATTLE TIGHTENS |
When
the Valenti Modified Racing Series visits New
Hampshire’s Lee USA Speedway this weekend, 19-year
old Tommy Barrett, of Millis, Mass, looks to do
something never done before, and win his third
consecutive ‘Oktoberfest 100’ when the series
competes in the 30th annual Oktoberfest weekend,
Saturday and Sunday,
All eyes will be on Barrett and the top two point
men in the series standings, Justin Bonsignore, of
Holtsville, New York, and reigning champion Rowan
Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania.
Bonsignore has a slim 5-point lead over Pennink
entering the Lee race. He finished fifth at last
weekends race at Waterford, CT, with Pennink sixth.
Chris Pasteryak, of Jewett City, CT, currently third
in the standings, and Richard Savary, of Canton, MA,
now fourth, are expected entries for the holiday
weekend event. Pasteryak is a former winner at Lee.
Savary won there in June.
Additional expected entries include three-time Lee
winner and all-time series winner Kirk Alexander, of
W. Swanzey, NH, former Lee winners, Steve Masse of
Bellingham, MA, and Andy Seuss, of Hampstead, NH.
Mr. Rooter Rookie of the Year candidate Mike Willis
Jr. of Grantham, NH, is an expected entry. Woody
Pitkat, of Stafford, CT, also is expected.
Former Champion Dwight Jarvis, of Ascutney, VT, is
also entered.
Practice and qualifying will take place on Saturday
starting at 12 noon.
Sunday’s feature race is scheduled fifth in the
running order. Post time is 12 noon. |
