SEEKONK
SPEEDWAY TO HOST
VALENTI MODIFIED SERIES SATURDAY |
The
Valenti Modified Racing Series rolls into Seekonk
Speedway this Saturday, June 7, for the second of
three scheduled races at the famed oval and the
early points battle continues.
.
29 race teams from throughout the Northeast have
filed pre-race registrations for the ‘Valenti Auto
Mall 100.’ The series top point men will grab most
of the attention. Last month’s winner at the ‘Cement
Palace’ will also draw his share.
Ridgefield, Connecticut’s Todd Szegedy holds a slim
3-point lead over reigning champion Rowan Pennink,
of Huntingdon Valley, PA, who has already garnered a
win at Monadnock Speedway in April. Szegedy still
seeks his first with car owner Kevin Stuart.
Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, Connecticut, sits third
in the standings after a tough outing at Thompson
Speedway last week where he finished tenth. The
two-time champion is also seeking his first trip to
victory lane.
Max Zachem, of Preston, Connecticut, and Jeff Rocco,
of Meriden, Connecticut, fourth and fifth, are
expected entries.
Richard Savary, of Canton, Massachusetts, grabbed
his first win May 4th at Seekonk, a track he
considers home turf. Savary grew up at the Seekonk
track where his legendary father George competed for
years. If Savary can find the same magic he had
going last month, he’ll be tough to beat.
Another local entry always competitive at his home
track is Todd Annarummo, of Swansea, Massachusetts.
The second-generation driver has two VMRS wins at
Seekonk under his belt.
Legendary Dwight Jarvis will make the trip from his
home base in Ascutney, Vermont. Jarvis will be the
only driver in the field that was with the series
when it began 11 years ago.
Qualifying heat races begin at 6:00 PM. For more
