Silk of Norwalk, CT earned fast time for the NASCAR
Whelen Modified Tour Town Fair Tire 100 at New
Hampshire Motor Speedway winning the Coors Light
pole awardand will lead the thirty-four car field to
green on Saturday for car owner Ed Partridge in the
Reynolds Auto Wrecking/Schnitzer sponsored
Chevrolet.
“The car drove real well,” said Coors Light pole
sitter Silk. “We were quick in practice but not
really happy with how the car went. We spent a lot
of time after practice and changed just about
everything we could. We went out for time and the
car drove really well. I’ve got to thank my guys –
I’m really looking forward to tomorrow.”
Silk crossed the line with a 29.492 second lap with
a ‘spec’ engine under the hood followed by Ryan
Preece of Berlin, CT at 29.884 seconds and Doug Coby
third with a 28.880 second lap.
Eric Berndt and NSCS driver Ryan Newman will make up
the top five.
The Coors Light pole award is Silk’s sixth career,
his second at the Magic Mile. The NWMT defending
champion is also the winner of the last NWMT outing
at NHMS back in September.
Rookie of the Year contender Keith Rocco will roll
off sixth for the Town Fair Tire 100 with Bryan
Chew, Rowan Pennink, Mike Stefanik and Todd Szegedy
the top ten.
Ryan Blaney in the McHawk Northeast modified will
make his first NWMT career start Saturday. Blaney
qualified just outside the top ten at eleventh.
The top three qualifiers, Silk, Preece and Coby are
also by coincidence, the top three in the point
standings. Coby leads the way with 220 points, Silk
follows with 200 with Preece a close third at 197
points. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is scheduled
to go green at 1pm – you can follow it here on
