MODIFIED TOUR
ENTRY LIST
CONTINUES TO GROW FOR ICEBREAKER |
Entries
from the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race teams
continue to arrive at the Thompson International
Speedway for Icebreaker 2012. The early entries
include a host of the Tour’s most popular drivers
and many more are expected before the April 14th &
15th Icebreaker dates.
Leading the list of race teams entered for the
Icebreaker is defending WMT champion, Ron Silk. Silk
will once again wheel the potent # 6 T.S. Haulers,
Inc. NASCAR Modified owned by Ed Partridge. The team
that challenged Silk for the title, right down to
the closing laps of the 2011WMT season at Thompson,
was the Todd Szegedy driven # 2 car. Szegedy is
among the early entries for the Icebreaker as well.
Other race teams that have filed entry forms include
Doug Coby, Mike Stefanik, Rowan Pennink, Eric Beers,
Ryan Preece, Keith Rocco, Bobby Santos III and many
more. Several other teams that are expected are
Donny Lia, Justin Bonsignore, Woody Pitkat and a
host of others.
Last year’s Icebreaker winner, Ted Christopher, is
expected to try to make it two in a row. His victory
last year was highlighted by the fact that early in
the event he was down two laps to the leaders.
Christopher made an incredible dash to not only make
up those lost laps but to end up in Icebreaker
victory lane.
Joining the Whelen Modified Tour will be Thompson’s
NASCAR Whelen All-American “Super 6” weekly
divisions. The competition in these divisions is
both fierce and fast. Many of New England’s very
best drivers compete in these divisions throughout
the season and offer edge-of-the-seat excitement for
race fans. Thompson Int’l Speedway is southern New
England’s largest and fastest race track.
Practice and qualifying for the Icebreaker will be
held on Saturday, April 14th. WMT cars will qualify
through time trials and All-American series
divisions will compete in qualifying races. Feature
event races will begin at 12:30 PM on Sunday, April
15th with the NASCAR Whelen Modified tour 150-lap
main slated to take the green flag around 3:30 PM.
Tickets for this outstanding season opener are
available by calling the Thompson Speedway track
office. (860-923-2280) The complete weekend schedule
