RACE OF CHAMPIONS ASPHALT MODIFIED TOUR HEADS WEST THIS
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY TO SPENCER AND DUNN TIRE RACEWAY PARK
SPEEDWAY’S |
The
Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour will make its western New
York swing this Friday and Saturday with back to back 75 lap events
at the Spencer Speedway followed by a trip to the Dunn Tire Raceway
Park (Lancaster Speedway).
On Friday the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour teams will
take to the history rich Spencer Speedway. The Modifieds have a rich
tradition of great events at the Williamson, NY oval and this Friday
should be no different. Last year Chuck Hossfeld propelled himself
to the RoC Overall Championship after earning the victory in the
Spencer 75 in June.
This year’s 75 lap event will certainly be interesting as the weekly
Spencer Modified teams will have the opportunity to race for a $500
bonus within the RoC feature event. In the past local track
knowledge has always reigned supreme and this year could see one of
the track weekly campaigners making a big impact. In the first two
RoC events of the season T.J. Zacharias has cashed in on the $500
Gater Racing News Bonus being awarded to the top 2 barrel Modified
team across the line. This Friday the competition will stiffen
within those ranks.
Current series point leader Kyle Ebersole is two for two in sweeping
the first two events of the season. Ebersole, from Hummelstown, PA
had led a number of feature events the past two seasons but now has
the experience of back to back wins added to his impressive resume.
A big field of the top Modified talent is expected this Friday as
they will all be looking to end the win streak at two.
On Saturday the RoC Tour teams will head west to the popular Dunn
Tire Raceway Park, another facility rich in Modified tradition. The
“H & H” show has taken center stage over the past several years at
DTRP during the RoC Series races. Matt Hirschman and Chuck Hossfeld
have delighted fans with their performances over the past several
years and that rivalry will continue this Saturday. The two top
showmen have a mutual respect for each other but on the race track
they both will be disappointed with anything less than a victory.
Hossfeld began his racing career at the facility and likes to
protect the home turf. Hirschman has locked up at least two of his
RoC Championships with his efforts in the “U.S Open” at Dunn Tire in
the past. This Saturday will certainly be a great matchup.
Racing on Friday begins at 7 p.m. and Saturday racing will get
underway at 6:30 p.m. To contact the Spencer Speedway offices please
