car racing teams planning to compete in Turkey Derby
XXXIX at Wall Stadium on Thanksgiving weekend can
prepare this Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 17 and 18)
during two paid practice sessions hosted by the
third mile high banked paved speedway. Each practice
session will run from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and
is open to competitors from divisions competing
during the season ending classic. Although each will
be a paid session for competitors, the grandstands
will be open so that fans can witness the practices
free of charge.
Turkey Derby XXXIX is a three day Thanksgiving
racing tradition set for Friday, Saturday and
Sunday, November 23, 24 and 25) during the daylight
hours. On November 23, practice will start at 8:30
a.m., while qualifying will start at 12:30 p.m. and
feature racing will begin at approximately 2:15 p.m.
On November 24, practice will start at 8:30 a.m.,
with qualifying set for 11:00 a.m. and feature
racing set for approximately 1:00 p.m. On Sunday,
November 25, practice will start at 11:00 a.m. with
main event action set for 1:00 p.m.
Pit gates will open at 6:30 a.m., with grandstand
seating opening at 9:30 a.m. on both Friday and
Saturday. On Sunday pit gates will open at 10:00
a.m. with grandstand seating opening at noon.
Qualifying is also set for noon with the first main
event set for the green flag at 1:00 p.m.
Friday main event action will feature the paved
track Sportsman cars, the Late Models, the Legend
Cars, the Truck Series, the 4 Cylinder cars and the
Factory Stocks. On Saturday, the Touring Modifieds,
Wall Modifieds, dirt Modified/Sportsman, TQ Midgets
and Street Stocks will all see main event action. On
Sunday, the Factory Stocks and 4 Cylinder Cars
return for a second main event each, while the S-10
Trucks and Powder Puff racers also see feature race
action. Sunday will be topped off by a Demolition
Derby.
Of special interest will be an appearance by Wall
Stadium favorites Ray Evernham and Wally Dallenbach,
as they debut the completely restored No. XL-1
Modified stock car on Saturday. Of importance to the
Jersey Shore community, which was stricken by
Hurricane Sandy just a few weeks ago, will be a
collection of money and gift cards for the area’s
relief fund. Program Dynamics President Steve
Barrick recently announced that his publishing
company will donate $1 from every Wall Revue program
magazine sold during the weekend to the effort.

Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State
Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The
