VALENTI MODIFIEDS READY FOR SEEKONK DAV RACE |
The
Valenti Modified Racing Series returns to action this weekend as part of the
20th annual DAV event honoring the late D. Anthony Venditti, founder and
long-time operator of the famed Seekonk (MA) Speedway.
For the ninth consecutive year, the New England based series will be part of
the special one-day event, Saturday, Oct 6.
The VMRS will be looking for it’s ninth different winner of the ‘DAV Fall
Classic’100-lap race.
With three races remaining on the 2012 schedule, Jon McKennedy, of E.
Chelmsford, MA., holds a 57-point lead over Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon
Valley, PA., in his quest for his third series championship. McKennedy
captured the 2010 DAV race.
Louie Mechalides, of Tyngsboro, MA., a winner at Seekonk in June is entered.
Long time fan favorite, Dwight Jarvis, of Ascutney, VT., has entered.
Former winners, Dave Berghman, of Seekonk, and Vinnie Annarummo, of Swansea,
MA., are expected.
Mountainside Graphics Top Rookie contenders Tommy Barrett, of Millis, MA.,
and Mark Bakaj, of Lebanon, CT., sixth and seventh in the point standings,
are both expected. Only 16 points separate the two young drivers.
Former winners of the DAV event include, Les Hinckley (2004), Andy Seuss, at
age18, (2005), Berghman (2006), Annarummo (2007), Chris Pasteryak (2008),
Mike Stefanik (2009), McKennedy (2010), and Dale Holdridge (2011). |
