VALENTI MODIFIED RACING SERIES
TRIES AGAIN AT WATERFORD |
The
Valenti Modified Racing Series returns to Waterford Speedbowl, Waterford,
CT., this Saturday, to compete in last months postponed 100-lap race, lost
to rain forecast at the famed speedway.
The series goes to Waterford with a hotly contested battle for the 2012
championship, a 17 year old driver who captured his first ever win last week
at Stafford, CT., and a defending series champion who knows the way around
his ‘home’ track.
Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, PA., clipped two points off Jon
McKennedy’s lead in the season standings last week at Stafford, CT., forcing
the Chelmsford, MA., driver to focus on the Waterford race. McKennedy had
shown interest in a supermodified race in New Hampshire but has chosen to
compete in the Art Barry, # 2 modified.
Tommy Barrett, of Millis, MA., will try to win back-to-back races in this
weekends program.
Defending series champion, Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT., a former winner
at ‘The Bowl’ and now third in the point standings will compete. Former
Waterford track champion, Timmy Jordan, of Plainfield, CT., is expected.
Saturdays race is the 12th appearance by the VMRS at Waterford. 10 different
series drivers have won there.
VMRS practice is at 4:00 PM followed by qualifying races at 5:30 PM. |
