For
the 5th consecutive year, the Valenti Modified Racing Series will take part
in the seasons big Open-Wheel Extravaganza, the annual ‘Wings & Wheels’ race
program featuring Modifieds, Supermodifieds, and Midgets at Waterford
Speedbowl, Waterford, CT. The special six-division race card will be held
Saturday night, August 11.
Three of the top five drivers in the current point standings are previous
Waterford winners. Current leader Jon McKennedy, of E. Chelmsford, MA.,
holds a 22-point lead over 2009 ‘Wings & Wheels’ winner, Rowan Pennink, of
Huntingdon Valley, PA. Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT., ranked fifth, is a
two-time winner at his home track.
Milford, CT’s Doug Coby, a two-time series winner at Waterford, will also
compete.
Additionally, Norm Wrenn, of Nashua, NH., Timmy Jordan, of Plainfield, CT.,
Louie Mechalides, of Tyngsboro, MA., Max Zachem, of Preston, CT., Tommy
Barrett, of Millis, MA., and Mike Holdridge, of Madison, CT., are expected.
Saturdays race is the 12th appearance by the VMRS at the famed oval. 10
different drivers have won there including Bobby Grigas, Rob Summers, Kirk
Alexander, Les Hinckley, Jerry Marquis, Steve Masse, Pasteryak, Coby,
Pennink, and McKennedy.
Qualifying begins at 5:30 PM with feature races scheduled at 7:00 PM. |
