WEATHER POSTPONES THOMPSON RACES
UNTIL SUNDAY, JULY 26 |
With
predictions of severe thunderstorms and the possibility of tornados, the
Thompson International Speedway has postponed its Thursday Night Thompson
Thunder race event until this coming Sunday, July 29th.
The paddock will open on Sunday at 11 AM and practice will start at 12 Noon.
Grandstands will open at 12 Noon. Qualifying is slated for a 2:30 PM start
with features getting underway at about 3 PM.
“The threat of severe weather being forecast for the entire state made the
decision to postpone this race an easy one,” said track owner, Don Hoenig.
“However, the best alternative date to run this event proved to be Sunday,
July 29th. The Valenti Modified Racing Series has a very busy schedule for
the balance of the summer and we did not want to have to cancel the VMRS
75-lap feature event race,” Hoenig concluded.
The race seven-division race program on Sunday will feature the Valenti
Modified Racing Series along with Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American
Series “Super 6” divisions. Fans are urged to check the Thompson web page
for the complete schedule of events for the day.
