Jon
McKennedy, of East Chelmsford, Massachusetts, will
ride a championship wave into New Hampshire’s Lee
USA Speedway Sunday, October 23, to put the final
touch on an incredible season as the Valenti
Modified Racing Series closes out the 2016 campaign.
McKennedy, driving the # 29 Exit Realty,
Christopher’s Towing, L. H. Wheeler Chevrolet, will
be looking to sweep both ends of the scheduled
twin-50-lap feature races, part of the annual
Oktoberfest event that was postponed by rain two
weeks ago.
The 29-year old driver becomes the series all-time
championship leader with four titles surpassing Kirk
Alexander. McKennedy also moved into second place on
the all-time series win list with 22 victories.
Alexander leads that category with 31 wins.
McKennedy has visited victory lane this season at
Groveton, NH, Oxford, ME, Winchester, NH, Lee, NH,
Waterford, CT, Stafford, CT, and Scarborough, ME.
Series regulars Rob Richardi, of Easton, MA, David
Schneider, of Northport, NY, Colby Fournier, of
Berkley, MA, Geoff Gernhard, of Bozrah, CT, Matt
Mead, of Richmond, NH, and Framingham, MA, Brandon
Dion, of Taunton, MA, and Framingham, MA, veteran
George Sherman, are some of the expected entries.
VMRS features are first and fifth in a 13-division
lineup. A round of practice will commence at 12 noon
Sunday.
